N.J. school closures, delayed openings due to ice storm for Wednesday (01/05/2022) – NJ.com

Some schools announced they would remain closed or have delayed openings Wednesday after a storm left South Jersey with 10 inches of snow or more on Monday and more winter weather was in the forecast.

The Monday storm prompted Gov. Phil Murphy issued a state of emergency for five counties and marked the first major snow fall of the year. Meanwhile, all 21 New Jersey counties were under winter weather advisories with the chance of light freezing rain on Wednesday.

School districts in the following counties have made weather-related school announcements for Wednesday, Jan. 5:

ATLANTIC COUNTY:

  • Egg Harbor Township School District – delayed opening
  • Pleasantville – closed
  • Ventnor – 2-hour delayed opening

CAPE MAY COUNTY:

  • Wildwood City School District – 2-hour delayed opening

MERCER COUNTY

MIDDLESEX COUNTY

  • Old Bridge – one-hour delay for middle schools and elementary schools
  • Sayreville – 90-minute delay

MONMOUTH COUNTY

  • Marlboro – 2-hour delay

MORRIS COUNTY:

  • Butler – 90-minute delay
  • Chatham – 2-hour delay
  • Chester – 2-hour delay
  • Dover – closed
  • East Hanover – delayed opening schedule
  • Florham Park – 2-hour delay
  • Hanover Township – 2-hour delay
  • Kinnelon – 2-hour delay
  • Madison – 2-hour delay
  • Mendham Borough – 10:30 a.m. start time
  • Montville – 2-hour delay
  • Morris County Vocational – 2-hour delay
  • Morris Hills Regional – 2-hour delay
  • Morris Plains School District – 2-hour delayed opening
  • Mount Olive – 2-hour delay
  • Mountain Lakes – 2-hour delay
  • Parsippany-Troy Hills – 2-hour delay
  • Roxbury – 2-hour delay
  • Washington Township – 2-hour delay
  • Wharton Borough – 10 a.m. start time

PASSAIC COUNTY

  • Bloomingdale Schools – 90-minute delay
  • Lakeland Regional High School – 90-minute delay
  • Pompton Lakes – delayed opening schedule
  • Ringwood – delayed opening schedule, use emergency bus routes
  • Wanaque – delayed opening schedule
  • Wayne Township – 90-minute delay
  • West Milford – 90-minute delay

SUSSEX COUNTY

  • High Point Regional – 90 minute delay
  • Montague – 2-hour delay
  • Sussex-Wantage Regional – 90 minute delay
  • Vernon – 2-hour delay
