SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Lorna B. Kennedy, 92, formerly of Champion, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Community Hospice of Jacksonville, Fla.

Lorna was born July 28, 1929, in Cameron, W.Va., the first child of Kermit Lee and Hildred Bonar.

She married Thomas Kennedy on June 4, 1949; and they shared 44 years of marriage before he passed away on June 25, 1993.

Lorna attended Shepherd of the Woods Lutheran Church, Jacksonville, Fla., and also was a member of Champion Presbyterian Church. Lorna was a graduate of Kent State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in education. She was a high school English teacher in Southington Local School District. She loved to read and follow her former students on Facebook. She took great pride in their accomplishments. Most of all, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities and sports events. She was proud when someone commented that she had watched sports for three generations.

Lorna is survived by three children, Louise Bernard of St. Augustine, Fla., Michael Kennedy of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Charley Kennedy of Forrestville, Calif.; brothers, Paul Bonar of Stafford, Va., Mark (Bobbie) Bonar of Waynesbora, Va., and Ralph Bonar of Brownsburg, Ind.; and sister, Sue Postlewait of Wheeling, W.Va.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Kennedy; son, Timothy Kennedy; brother, Fred Bonar; and sister, Virginia Foster.

She also is survived by five grandchildren, Joseph (Becky) Bernard of Jacksonville, Fla., Thomas (Sachi) Bernard of Princeton, N.J., Erin Putney of Wyalusing, Pa., Jason (Jessica) Kennedy of Memphis, Tenn., and Jane (Phillip) Alesia of Scranton, Pa.; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon, with services at noon Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Champion Presbyterian Church, 2997 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren.
