Hudson Shakespeare Company is touring the state with a production of William Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing,” with performances scheduled in Hudson County and the rest of the Garden State this month.
The Hudson Shakespeare Company has been producing a range of titles by the Bard since 1992 in both indoor and outdoor venues. Each year, their annual Shakespeare Festival produces three free outdoor productions of Shakespeare and other classics from June to August. While they do some of the Bard’s better-known works, they’ve also been known to produce shows of some of the lesser-known works as well.
“Much Ado About Nothing” is believed to have been written around the 1590′s before being published in the early 1620′s. The play talks about love, hidden identity, honor, confusion, friendship, and marriage as it follows two soldiers who arrive in the Italian city of Messina and soon find romance with two women. What follows is a battle of words and wits that takes center stage in the story.
Shows began on Tuesday, July 12, and continue on Wednesday and Thursday, July 13 and 14. Here is the remaining tour schedule for the Hudson Shakespeare Company’s productions of Much Ado About Nothing:
